Verdict for Deck-hand injured on the job

Lumpkin & Reeves recently recovered a verdict in Federal Court in Gulfport, MS for a deck-hand who injured his knee while working offshore. The verdict totaled approximately 800,000. There was also a confidential settlement with another defendant that shared responsibility for the accident. The accident occurred when the deck-hand was working at night and stepped into an uncovered hole. The evidence showed that the barge owner knew about the hole and did nothing to cover or protect the workers he knew would be onboard. The money will help with this mans future medical care and will cover his loss of earnings as the severity of injury was such that he is unable to return to work offshore.
